This past Saturday, Steve and I went on our first date of the year, and I think we've been on a total of like 5 dates since Raffy was born, which was about 17 months ago! I know, that's not very many dates, but we're working on changing that this year.
We had purchased a few weeks back tickets to the Peewee Herman Show at Club Nokia. Steve really loves Peewee Herman so I had no choice, but to go along. It turned out to be a really funny show that I enjoyed very much. We had lots of laughs. You can't help, but have a smile on your face while watching Peewee's sillyness.
My MIL came over and watched Raffy for us. The last few times she watched her when we went on our "dates", she cried the whole time, like for 3 hours at a time. Now that she is more use to being alone with her grandma, she is much better with her when we leave for a few hours. We were so exciting to finally being doing something alone for a change and knowing that she was safe with Grandma made me feel more at ease. We left the house at about 3:45pm to catch the 4:30 showing. We totally forgot that the Grammy was that Sunday at the Staples Center, so there were a lot of activity with the media tents being set up, and some parking entrances were blocked off. Regardless, we made good time.
The show let out at about 6pm, and we were planning on having a cocktail and dinner at the nearby Rivera restaurant, but first I wanted to check in with MIL. Of course when I called, I can hear Raffy screaming in the background. Oh no, MIL had said she just started crying and kept running to the front door asking for Mama. Only 2 or so hours in and she is missing me already? Really? So our dinner plans were foiled, instead we picked up some Carl's Jr. on the was home. Yeah it wasn't fancy, but I guess you can still say it's dinner and a show. Oh how I envy parents who get to go on dates and their child is perfectly content without them around. I know Raffy will get to that point someday.
Hopefully we can plan more of these dates in the future, maybe next time we can sit down and have dinner too. I love my daughter but a little "us" time, like old times, is so awesome.
