Playing Catch-Up

Wow, I can't believe I'm 31 weeks now and have only five weeks left before I go on maternity leave. I'm very excited about leaving work and enjoying some much needed relaxation a few weeks before my due date. I feel like I'm a senior in high school and counting down the days until graduation.

We've also revealed her name to family members and a few close friends. I'm can't wait to share it with everyone in the next post. I'll give a few hints for now. It starts with an R. It has 2 set of double letters and it's nine letters in total. There is a boy version of it. Oh it's origin can be Italian, Spanish, or Hebrew. Well that's a lot of clues. maybe someone will guess it =).

The past few weeks have been really hectic. We had our annual 4th of July Bash, which turned out great. Plenty of food, beer, and our very own fireworks show. However, it was a lot of work preparing and shopping leading up to it. And cleaning up after that. It didn't help that the next day we drove to down to San Diego to spend sometime with his family. So I was pretty worn out. Next year though, I plan on changing up the 4th of July party a bit. I really want to do a New England themed 4th celebration, possibly a clam bake and lobster rolls, with lots of red, white and blue. It will be an ode to my east coast roots.

I was able to get a few more things ordered for the baby. I ordered the infant size wood hangers and cloth diapers. Still waiting on our organic crib mattress. It has been five weeks since I placed the order. I was told it will take 4 weeks because they make it to order since it's organic and all natural they don't believe in storing it in a warehouse to collect dust and other allergens. Which I totally understand, but I just want everything to be ready and perfect for her.

I don't plan on doing much the rest of this month, except get a hair cut at my trusty salon by the beach and a mani/pedi as well as look for some outfits to wear to my 2 showers. BTW, I found this great nail salon a month ago. I was searching the internet for places that would be safe for me during my pregnancy. I found one not far from home located in Hermosa Beach called Mani Pedi Cutie. The place smelled great when I first walked in there. They're all about being natural and all the tools were in sterilized bags that was opened in front of me, kind of like at the dentist's office. The decor was very stylish and the nail technicians are very friendly. The owner is a mom herself therefore she has made the place very family oriented, so children and babies are welcome to get their nails done, or just to tag along. I would definitely recommend this place to all preggos and just anyone who wants an alternative to the regular nail salon. The prices weren't bad either.

The 1st shower will be thrown by Steve's aunt and it will be mainly for family. I just got the invite and it looks so cute. Steve's grandma is very excited and I am ecstatic that our daughter will get to meet her great grandma. I never had the chance to even meet my grandmother, let alone great grandma, so I think it is a special thing that she will. The second shower will be hosted by my great friends Jolene and Rhisie. It will be the weekend after the family shower. Jolene and Rhisie are really keeping the details of this shower a surprise and I am getting very anxious. I want to know colors and theme, so I can't wait to see the invite. I trust them 100% that they will host an amazing shower based off their own style and taste. Thanks in advance for everything, I am so honored to have such great people around me.
