Great News!!

I had an ultrasound done with my perinatologist on Thursday. We got to see our little girl once again. It's always nice to see how she has been developing. Her position is head down and sitting right atop my cervix and pushing against my bladder. That explains why I'm having to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes. However, since I've had more than my fair share of U/S due to possible complications, I changed my mind about doing the optional 4D U/S later =(. Which I have always wanted forever, but since there has not been much research done on the affects of U/S on the fetuses. I don't think I want to subject her to any additional U/S than she needs.

On to the good news. The perinatologist confirmed that my cervix was fully closed and the length was actually 3.8-4cm, which is exactly where I should be. Yippee. The U/S tech at the hospital was waaaayy off. He said it was about 2.5cm and that was why I was put on bed rest. Of course my OBGYN knew that the hospital readings weren't always accurate and that's why she had me see the perinatologist to confirm. This means that I am off bed rest, I can resume work, and go on with my normal activities. Although at this stage I will still be taking it easy because I am still having contractions.

We celebrated the good news by going to out to dinner, the first time in 2 weeks since I actually went outside. I'm not so thrilled about returning to work, but I am so relieved that she will be staying put in the womb for a while.

In the next few weeks, at 26 weeks, I will have my glucose test to see how my body processes sugar that can possibly indicate if I may have gestational diabetes. I am hoping that all goes well. I'm leaving everyone with a picture of her at 24 weeks and 4 days showing off some well defined calves =).
