Bedrest Update

Below are belly pics I took today. I am now 24 weeks pregnant.

Well, I am through with the first week of my bed rest. It went pretty well, aside from feeling useless. I had to keep telling myself that this is good for the baby and I have to do the best job I can as an incubator to keep this little girl in the womb for as long as I can.

Thankfully, I've had lots of help. Although being the neat freak and having a mild case of OCD, I have learned to relax and give up my cleaning and organizing duties. My MIL has taken over that job. She has cleaned the entire bathroom, windows, and made sure dishes were always done. The one thing I was adamant about though, was that she used the cleaning products and supplies we have in the house. Which have no harsh chemicals or odors. I didn't want her introducing her own cleaning products that weren't "green".

I also had some girlfriends that I knew from Boxing Works stop by for dinner on Wednesday. They were so kind to bring dinner and dessert over. Rhisie made some yummy ramen salad, while Kara made a smoked Maori chicken dish, and Gayle brought carrot cake. It really made my week go by faster and helped me to not feel so secluded from the outside world. We had a great time chatting and catching up. Kara, who recently got back from her year long adventure in New Zealand brought the baby back some cute little booties.

The upside to being on bed rest is that I get to wear yoga pants and tanks everyday without any guilt. The annoying thing is that I can't leave the house except to go to the doctors and I really still need to get more shopping done. I guess I can do some of my nesting online for right now. We still need the crib mattress, which I think I am going for an organic one from DaxStores.com, and some baby wooden hangers. I hate the plastic ones, and since we have adult wooden hangers, I should get the baby's to match.

they are so cute and tiny, just the perfect size for those baby outfits

Before I was put on bed rest, Steve and I had a chance to visit a local store that sold several different brands of cloth diapers. We were able to feel and touch them. They look and work so much like the disposables, but they just have to be washed. The store owner gave us some great insight and advice, since she uses it on her baby too. However, the weird thing is that she said to order it online from anyone of the online retailers, since they will be much cheaper than in her store. Weird. Since I can save money, I'll take the store owners advice, but I really would much rather support a neighborhood mom and pop store.

the bum genius is one size fits all, from birth to toddler

I wish I could wear yoga pants and tanks everyday. Hang in there. You're being a good incubator and the little one will be happier and healthier for it. :)
