Urban Outfitters Contest Photo

So this is the photo I entered to Urban Outfitters "the way you wore it" contest. It's circa 2007, I still own this great gray military coat. Wish me luck, a $1000 gift cert is at stake. I'm a mama to two young kids and yeah I still rock the UO.

Stepping Out (4.23.11) Easter Weekend Edition

mama: ag jeans, abercrombie sweater, target sandals
the tot: crewcuts blazer, old navy shorts and h&m headband

Our friends hosted an egg-cellent Easter Egg Hunt this past Saturday. They had yummy Peruvian Arroz Chaufa with Aji sauce, and a few other dishes that I don't remember, but they were delish too. Tons of sweet goodies too. I could not help myself, I had to have one of each. The great egg hunt was fun for the kids and grown ups.

Raffy's egg hunting style is too cute, once she found an egg, she wanted to open it up right there and then, but we had to urge her several times, "let's open it afterwards", sheesh, didn't she know she was wasting precious egg hunting time, eggs were getting swooped up left and right. We were told to bring 8 filled eggs, and I think every kid went home with there fair share. I got to reconnect with some of my mommy friends that I have not seen since I delivered Stevie Adderley. I think we are due for some play-dates soon. It was a beautiful day for a party and it was so awesome that there were just so many kids that came out.

Easter morning, we had left a basket full of goodies at the front door, armed and ready with not just one camera, but two cameras and a video camera, we pretended that someone was knocking at the door and told Raffy to go open it, she did and found the basket and was so excited she did not know how to react. She just tossed all the goodies out and acted like she did not want any of them. Until she calmed down a little from the excitement and really examined all the gifts and after that she was very happy and thankful for all the wonderful things the Easter bunny brought her.

Later that afternoon we headed over to my hubby's grandmother's house as we do every Easter. However, this year, Grandma had to spend it in the hospital, she's been suffering from an abundance of health problems, I guess it comes with the territory of being 92 years old. It was a little sad without the matriarch of the family there, but it was still a very pleasant Easter regardless. Plenty of food and since it was potluck and not coordinated very well, there were three deviled egg dishes. Not to be bias, but I think ours were the best =). Not one single egg was left standing on our platter =) There was also another easter egg hunt, and Raffy also made out like a bandit. And now what to do with all those empty plastic eggs?? WEll a friend shared a link to this site, and I think that's just what I'll do.

Easter Stuff

This Easter was the first Easter I was able to do some egg decorating with my 2 1/2 year old. Last year, she wasn't ready yet, so I was very egg-cited (hehe) to get our hands dirty this time.

We kept it simple, I purchased some Kool-aid in various colors to dye the eggs in, and I had her use crayons to draw on the eggs whatever she wanted. She did mostly scribbles, but I made swirly and zigzag patterns. They came out pretty cool. My friend had given me a dozen eggs she collected from her chickens, but I was not about to use those super duper fresh eggs for this project. I'd much rather fry them. Fried eggs are the best, but oh so bad for you.

On Good Friday, we picked up my MIL and headed to the mall to take some photos with the Easter Bunny, my kids apparently love the Easter Bunny, because both are smiling in the official photos. Raffy gave him a hug and did not want to leave. When we got home, so told me in a concerned voice "mommy I forgot to ask the Easter bunny for princesses" (she loves the Disney princess and had been eyeing the mini Tiana and Cinderella dolls at Target). Well we'll just have to wait until Easter to see what the Easter bunny brings.

Stepping Out (4.16.11) San Diego "Stay-cation" Edition

This past Saturday was a special stepping out day for the entire fambam. We headed out of town for a long overdue "stay-cation". The destination for this weekend trip was Seaworld in San Diego and then a stay at Rancho San Barnardo Inn, about 30 minutes north of San Diego. Even though it was only for 2 nights, we jam-packed our trunk with everything but the kitchen sink. For those of you who have children, young children especially, like a preschooler and an infant, will totally understand why you would need so many damn things.

It was great family time, we had so much fun. This was Raffaella's first trip to Seaworld and she loved it. Her favorite was the Shamu show. We ended our 1st day at a nice resort. Super soft beds to rest our heads and a huge bathtub to wash all that sunscreen off. And it was a ton of sunscreen we used. The sun was blistering and it was hot hot hot that day. So it was nice to have a great place to rest at the end of the day. Oh, I have to mention that our 4 month old did awesome, he is like the most chill baby on this planet, he didn't have any issues whatsoever, he just goes along with everything. Raffaella did awesome during the day, but when we got to the hotel, she was really cranky, but I can't blame her, she was really overtired.

The next day, we had breakfast out on the patio overlooking the golf course, walked around the beautiful grounds, they had very lush landscaping, fountains everywhere, and then we headed to the pool. April is such a great time to travel, this place was seriously empty. We had the family pool to ourselves. We spent the better part of the morning there.

Then it was Monday, the weather a bit chilly and dreary, and it even drizzled a little on our drive home. So glad that we had great weather all weekend. I hate when vacations end, but it always feels good to be home sweet home. Until next time....

Here is the a picture of our outfits, totally forgot to take a better pic of us, but we needed to leave early and we were already running late.

mama: shorts, tank, and vest/shaw like top, all love culture.

tot: shorts and tank and fedora, old navy, shoes Yo Gabba Gabba Vans
